Another First Kiss

She checked her phone again to make sure that she had the right place. She adjusted her skirt and smoothed down her hair before he showed up. He texted her that he would be late. She ordered a coffee and sipped nervously as she waited for him. Every time she did this she wondered if it would be a good connection or a waste of time. It was worth taking the risk to meet the good ones.
He walked in and gave her a smile that made her thankful that she had said "yes". He pulled up a chair and they talked as if they had known each other for an eternity. She liked his tousled dark hair and his lively brown eyes. She glanced at his lips and wondered what it would be like to kiss him. They laughed and eventually the date had to end. He gave her a hug and they parted ways. No kiss this time!
On their second date, they continued to have a great conversation. It was unlike her, but she moved closer and kissed his neck. He turned to her with desire in his eyes and kissed her softly. She felt the room spin.
The first kiss always revealed the truth. If the kiss was too hard, then she wasn't interested. It revealed a person who was too controlling. She wanted it to be firm, yet soft enough where she could give him her kiss in return.
Was it mechanical? Did it feel like he kissed every woman the same way? Every kiss should be unique to the people participating in it. She did not want to feel as if she were on an assembly line!
His kiss was deep and soulful. It was one of the best kisses she had ever experienced. Each kiss from him made her hunger for more. She felt his soul reach into hers and bring it out of the dark place where it hid.
It was the first kiss of her life to move her this way. It even overshadowed her former best kiss, by far. The energy from him surged through her. She never imagined that it could be like that.
As they embraced she didn't want to let go. The world they had created with each other was intimate, vulnerable, and precious. The rhythm of his heartbeat was the song of life within him. The life he had shared with her for that moment. She held that song in her mind so that she could listen to it again and again.
"What do you want from me?" he whispered in the darkness.
It brought her happiness and fear to spend time with him. The best things in life always did. She knew that there may not be a future for them, yet she wanted him to know how much he meant to her. He was watching her closely, awaiting her response.
"How about another first kiss?" she smiled and he pulled her in close.
